In the year two thousand and twenty-three, from February 2 to 5, a free cleft lip and palate repair surgery campaign took place at Touboro District Hospital, Northern Region. This campaign was conducted by Dr. OBEN Sammy OROCK, Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgeon with the collaboration of a college of doctors, assistants and other volunteer staff of WeCCARE Foundation among which two volunteers Student Doctors : BARIKOI Roland, 5th year medical student at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Garoua and Agnes TAMBEAYUK, 3rd year student at the FHS Buea.
The objective of this campaign was to operate free of charge patients with cleft lip and/or palate. For a safe treatment, medicines were distributed to the patients who benefited from this surgery.

– In summary, 15 patients were operated, 7 male and 8 female. That is :
– 13 cleft lips
– 2 cleft palates

This campaign also faced some difficulties, notably the instability of the electric supply in the area. This did not prevent the team from deploying all possible solutions in order to put a smile on the patients’ faces. At the end of this campaign, their satisfaction could not be overshadowed.
The Director of the Touboro District Hospital and his team (nurses, operating room nurses and anaesthetists) promised better commitment and support for the team during the next mission in the district. This was done under the administrative and traditional watch of the Sub-Prefect and the representative of the Lamido for the city of Touboro.
