One of our core values at the WeCCARE Foundation is that “We Value People”. We believe that in our quest in Caring for the whole man as our slogan stipulates, we still hold very precious the importance of people and their support in making our vision an accomplishment. As the old saying goes “United we stand and divided we fall”, with the aid from all donations we receive, we can confidently take a step ahead towards our promised land.
On the 27th day of the month of February 2023, Hadassah Medical Centre Simbock, Yaounde was graced to receive a gracious gift from one of its well-wishers, Mrs NGO Frida. Wrapped in this gift package was an Electrotherapy machine.
What is Electrotherapy?
Electrotherapy (or electromagnetic therapy) is the use of electrical energy as a medical treatment. Electrotherapy is used for the relaxation of muscle spasms, prevention and retardation of disuse atrophy, an increase of local blood circulation, muscle rehabilitation, and reeducation by electrical muscle stimulation, maintaining and increasing range of motion, management of chronic and intractable pain, posttraumatic acute. Here are some benefits of Electrotherapy:
- Reduce nerve pain.
- Promote healing of musculoskeletal injuries.
- Have a non-invasive, drug-free pain control.
- Prevent muscle atrophy (decrease in size and wasting of muscle tissue).
- Increase circulation for wound repair.
- Have minimal to no side effects.
