In the year two thousand and twenty-two, from September 13 to 17, a free cleft lip and palate surgery campaign was held at the Garoua Boulai District Hospital, Eastern Region.

This campaign was led by Dr. OBEN Sammy OROCK, Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon with the collaboration of a college of doctors, assistants and other volunteer staff of Weccare Foundation among which two volunteer doctors from the United States: Dr. John Westine, 90 years old Craniofacial surgeon and Patrick GAUHANH, operating room assistant. Attached is a list of the staff.

The objective of this campaign was to operate free of charge on patients waiting for cleft lip and/or palate and all other cases of emergency surgery reported. For a safe treatment, medicines were distributed to the patients who benefited from the surgery. At the end of this campaign, the smiles on the faces of the patients showed their satisfaction.

25 patients were identified
23 patients were operated on, i.e:
– 15 cleft lips
– 2 palate clefts
– 2 cases of palate clefts returned
– 2 caesarean sections
– 2 appendicitis
– 2 hernias
