Tsaloyi Nuance’s Smile: A Mother’s Hope

"I remember the day my son Tsaloyi Nuance was born as if it were yesterday. I was so happy to welcome him into the world, but my joy quickly turned to worry when I saw that he had a cleft lip. I knew that the cost of surgery would be prohibitive. We were poor and we could barely afford to feed ourselves, let alone our son. I was worried about Tsaloyi's future. Would he be able to eat and speak normally? Would he be able to live a normal life?"

How it all started

My Background

I remember the day my son Tsaloyi Nuance was born as if it were yesterday. I was so happy to welcome him into the world, but my joy quickly turned to worry when I saw that he had a cleft lip and no palate.

My husband and I could barely afford to feed ourselves, let alone our son. I was worried about Tsaloyi’s future. Would he be able to eat and speak normally? Would he be able to live a normal life?

This is my story

I was determined to give my son the best possible chance in life. I followed the midwife’s instructions and stayed away from anything that could hurt my baby. On the 11th February 2023, my pregnancy was at term and I gave birth to Tsaloyi Nuance in Moloundou, a municipality in Cameroon, located in the East region and Boumba-et-Ngoko sub-division, on the border with the Republic of Congo.

How i got my solution

My Discovery and solution

Tsaloyi Nuance was a beautiful baby, but I was heartbroken when I saw his cleft lip.I didn’t have to even present the child to wellwishers that came around to visit. My home as a wife was menaced due to the strange happening. We had never seen such a thing before. I knew that the cost of surgery would be prohibitive, and I didn’t know what to do.

Fortunately for me,the owner of the hospital where i gave birth knew about WeCCARE Foundation. WeCCARE Foundation is an international non-profit organization that provides free cleftcare in Cameroon. As soon as the child reached 3 months old, we took off for a journey from the east to the centre region to WeCCARE Foundation.

Upon arrival at the hospital, my son’s vital signs specifically his weight wasn’t upto the required level that is 3 months with 6kg. My son was declared as being malnourished. Hopefully, WeCCARE Foundation made provisions for my son to be followed up by a nutritionist till he got the right weight.

After 3 months, on the 3rd of August 2023 my son was operated upon successfully. When my son was returned to me after surgery, i was just so excited and happy. Words can’t be enough to express the joy i feel within me. My son can finally be normal like other child of his age.

Tsaloyi Nuance is now 6 months old, and he is thriving. He is a happy and healthy baby, and I know he will be able to eat and speak normally. I am so grateful to WeCCARE Foundation for giving my son the gift of a smile.

I will never forget the day that Tsaloyi Nuance smiled for the first time. It was the day that my hopes and dreams for his future came true. It was the day that I knew that he would have a chance to live a normal life.

I am so grateful to WeCCARE Foundation for making this possible. They are a truly amazing organization, and they are making a real difference in the lives of children in Cameroon.

If you are looking for a way to make a difference in the world, I encourage you to support WeCCARE Foundation. Your donation will help to provide healthcare to children in Cameroon who need it most.
